About these terms
Searchbase Cloud is the hosted service for Searchbase. It is operated by Coolapso AB, a company registered in Sweden with organisation number 559591-2956 and its registered office in Kiruna (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us for the use of the Searchbase Cloud website, dashboard, REST API, and MCP service.
By creating an account, buying credit, or using an API key, you accept these terms. If you use Searchbase Cloud on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. It is part of how we provide the service, but it is not a contract you need to sign.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Use an email address you control and keep it current. We use it for sign-in and important information about your account.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and API keys. Keep keys secret, and revoke a key straight away if you think it has been exposed. Requests made with your keys are charged to your balance until you revoke them.
- If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, email support@searchbase.md.
The service
Searchbase Cloud gives AI agents and applications web search and page fetch through a REST API and an MCP service. Fetch loads pages in a browser that runs JavaScript and returns their content as Markdown.
Search results come from third-party search providers, and fetched content comes from the websites you request. We do not control, review, or endorse that content, and we cannot promise that it is accurate, complete, lawful, or available. Websites may block automated access or return limited content.
We may improve, change, or remove features. Before an incompatible API change, we will give reasonable notice where we can, unless the change is needed for security or legal reasons.
Acceptable use
You are responsible for what you search and fetch and for how you use the results. That includes respecting copyright and other rights in content, the terms of the websites you access, and data-protection law when results contain personal data.
You must not use Searchbase Cloud to:
- break the law, or find, fetch, or distribute content that is illegal, including child sexual abuse material;
- access content you are not authorised to access, or get around paywalls, sign-ins, or other access controls;
- overload, attack, or disrupt websites or other services, or distribute malware;
- collect personal data unlawfully, or harass, track, or profile individuals;
- resell or share access to Searchbase Cloud as a standalone service, or share your API keys outside your organisation, without our written permission;
- interfere with the service, get around its billing or limits, or test its security without permission (report security issues to support@searchbase.md); or
- use the service if you are subject to EU or UN sanctions, or on behalf of anyone who is.
To keep the service reliable, we may limit request rates or volumes.
Prices, credits, and payment
- Pay per success: current prices are on the pricing page. Each successful search or fetch is charged at the price in effect when the request starts. Requests that fail are not charged.
- Prepaid credit: you need enough credit to make a request. Credit is held in euros, and €1 of credit pays for €1 of usage at our published prices. The minimum top-up is €5.
- Fees and tax: the top-up fee and total are shown before checkout. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout.
- Checkout: Creem processes credit purchases as merchant of record, so Creem is the seller of each top-up and issues its invoice. Creem’s checkout terms also apply to the purchase.
- Expiry: credit expires only if your account has no top-up and no successful search or fetch for 12 months. We email you at least 30 days before it expires, and a top-up or successful request before then keeps it. Credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account, and does not earn interest.
- We don’t keep unused credit: each year, we donate an amount equal to all credit that expired or was lost through account deletion to independent open-source projects or charities, and publish the total and the recipients on this website.
- Price changes: we publish price changes on the pricing page at least 14 days before they take effect. They never apply to requests already in progress or to usage already charged.
- Billing errors: think a charge is wrong? Email us with the request ID from your usage history. We will correct confirmed errors by returning the credit to your balance.
- Reversed payments: we may remove credit from your balance when the payment for it is refunded, reversed, or disputed.
Refunds and withdrawal
Within 14 days of a top-up, you can ask for a refund of the credit you have not used. Email support@searchbase.md from your account email address. We refund the top-up amount or your current balance, whichever is lower, together with the matching share of the top-up fee and tax. Refunds are paid through Creem to your original payment method, and the refunded credit is removed from your balance.
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, this is how you can use your 14-day right of withdrawal. By using credit during those 14 days, you ask us to start providing the service straight away, and credit you have used is not refunded.
After 14 days, credit is not refundable, except where these terms or mandatory law say otherwise.
Closing or suspending an account
You can delete your account at any time in account settings. Deletion is permanent, and any remaining credit is lost and counts towards our yearly donation, so ask for any refund you are entitled to before you delete your account.
We may suspend or close your account, or revoke API keys, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if a payment is reversed or disputed, if the law requires it, or if your use puts the service or others at risk. Unless the law or security reasons prevent it, we will tell you why and, where it makes sense, give you a chance to fix the problem first.
If we stop offering Searchbase Cloud, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and refund your remaining credit. If we close your account for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we will also refund your remaining credit.
Availability and support
We work to keep Searchbase Cloud fast and available, but we do not guarantee a level of uptime. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, by incidents, or by problems with search providers, websites, or our hosting.
Support is by email at support@searchbase.md. We aim to reply within 3 business days.
Your content and results
You keep any rights you have in your queries and in the URLs you send. You give us permission to process them only as needed to provide the service. As described in the Privacy Policy, we do not store or log them.
We do not claim ownership of the results. Results can contain third-party content that is protected by the rights of others.
Open-source software
The Searchbase core is open-source software licensed under the AGPLv3 and available on GitHub. These terms cover the hosted Searchbase Cloud service only and do not limit your rights under that licence.
Warranties and liability
If you are a consumer, you keep all rights that mandatory consumer law gives you, including the right to a digital service that conforms to the contract. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
If you use Searchbase Cloud for business, the following also applies, as far as the law allows:
- The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties beyond those set out in these terms.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities.
- Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for credit in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
- You will cover our reasonable costs from third-party claims caused by your breach of the acceptable-use rules.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will publish the new version on this page with a new date. For changes that materially affect you, we will tell you by email or in your dashboard at least 30 days before they take effect.
If you do not agree to a material change, you can delete your account before it takes effect and we will refund your remaining credit. Ask for the refund before you delete the account. If you keep using Searchbase Cloud after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Swedish law, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
If something goes wrong, contact us first. We will try to resolve it with you directly. Consumers in Sweden can also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden). Consumers elsewhere in the EU can get help from their national European Consumer Centre.
Business disputes are settled by the courts of Sweden.
