Is there a monthly subscription?
No. Add prepaid credit when you need it. Your balance is used as successful search and fetch operations complete.
What happens if a request fails?
Failed operations are not charged. If a client retries an operation successfully, each successful operation is billable.
Can I move from Cloud to self-hosting?
Yes. Searchbase core is available under AGPLv3. You will need to operate your own infrastructure, configure providers, and update your client connection settings. Read the self-hosting documentation.
